I just put together a list of cool songs for a friend of mine and realized there's a lot of music I listen to that I've never mentioned here. As such, click for a list of songs and bands I'm listening to a lot right now.

rita lynch - baby i wonder
rita lynch - all dressed up

Someday Rita Lynch has to become more prominant than she is right now. I just can't see someone with her talent staying so completely obscure.

john martyn - Sunshine's Better

Primitive Radio Gods - Fading Out

I heard Standing Outside a Broken Phonebooth on the radio again a couple months ago and it made me realize I'd never heard anything else by them. They actually have some other really good songs.

Clutch - Careful With that Mic

Clutch is great. Lyrically they're just so off the wall that you never know what you're going to hear.

anything John Mayer

Think down-tempo Dave Matthews. Very cool.

Judie Tzuke - Come Hell or Waters High

Lucinda Williams - Drunken Angel

Mogwai - r u still in 2 it
mogwai - you stole the sun from my heart

Mogwai is very ambient. Vocals are rare, and more often than not they serve in more of an instrumental sense than as a focus.

manic street preachers - you stole the sun from my heart

Manic Street Preachers actually originated two songs I've really liked as remixes (Mogwai - You Stole the Sun from My Heart, Massive Attack - If You Tolerate This), though I didn't know either one was them.

nick cave, pj harvey, & concrete blonde - ship song

I like Nick Cave. I like PJ Harvey. Therefore I like this song.

portishead and paul weller - wild wood

r.l. burnside - bad luck city

R.L. Burnside is just cool, and in my opinion Bad Luck City is him at his best.

sleeping at last - love never fails

I've actually gotten a lot of Sleeping at Last songs recently, and the more I hear the more I'm coming to like them.
